Northpoint Summer Update
2nd October 2019
As we well and truly move into Autumn, Northpoint reflects on a busy summer
Northpoint has been involved with a number of interesting and challenging projects. The scope of our recent work extends to a range of sectors, including rail, residential, commercial and infrastructure. Northpoint have been busy assisting a number of key clients, from private home owners to local government organisations.
Whilst Northpoint is a Sunderland based consultancy, our work extends throughout the North East and across the UK. Northpoint’s recent endeavours included geotechnical and ground investigation works in Northumberland and South East England. Providing support to Network Rail and a number of Tier 1 contractors thought the UK.
The residential sector has been a busy one for Northpoint over the summer. One scheme which clinches our headlines is the detailed rock mass survey and remedial design in Sunderland. Following the failure of a rockface, which significantly damaged a residential property, Northpoint provided the homeowner with technical assistance. Working with several organisations, such as the Health & Safety Executive and Local Authority to provide a safe methodology to remediate the unstable rock mass.
The BOHO Zone redevelopment in Middlesbrough will see the complete transformation of Middlehaven and Manhattan Gate into a digital and creative district. Northpoint has been supporting the local authority, providing geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy services. Northpoint is assessing what hazards lie beneath the ground, and how these hazards may affect the future development proposals.
Northpoint has completed numerous schemes to facilitate adoptable highways and parking infrastructure. Schemes include projects for Lambton Estates for a new visitor car park, to a new car park in the centre of Skelton for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council. Northpoint is currently considering multiple schemes in Middlesbrough for road widening and new link roads in the Town Centre on behalf of the Council. Northpoint’s remit extended to the design and implementation of intrusive Ground Investigation works, and road and pavement design considerations to adoptable standards.
Autumn and into winter, Northpoint are already working on a number of new and prestigious schemes and currently planning/designing investigations. We will provide an update on interesting projects in the coming months, but in the meantime, please explore our other latest news (including handy reference blogs) and case studies.
